Eating Lighter for the Summer

food | recipe | salad

It’s true, not many people like to spend hours cooking when the temperatures are hot and muggy outside.

With the right ingredients, you can make an easy summer salad and have great flavor as well as great food.

The texture and freshness of your chosen vegetables are the foundation to a good salad.

Make your selections well and your tastebuds will thank you!

So, I figure I’ll start off with a little about me. I’m a 45 year old female. Single, well… ok , divorced for a LONG time. 3 great kids who are all grown now and have made 5 beautiful, amazing little people for me to love. My grandbabies are my HEART! What I wouldn’t do for those kids!
Anyway, I have lived in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina for about 25 years now. I live in the area known as the Swannanoa Valley. Asheville is a city very close to SC, TN, GA and VA.
About 2 months ago I drove to Austin, TX to visit my brother and his family. I am staying with them until the end of the year. TX is so much different than NC in many ways, the biggest difference being the weather and temperature. I have suddenly developed allergies that I never had before. Dogs, Cats, Smoke, Air… Lol!

Yes I was, and due to my habit of typos and slow typing I use to first write in WordPad, then copy paste it in my blog. It’s very simple, all you need to install this small software and then what you get is a full WYSIWYG editor to write post, include all the media content and then post it directly to your blog without any delay from the software itself. Finding Inner Peace and Strength

life | negative | Peace | strength

We strive to find inner peace and strength, but most of us will never find it. We are too busy letting stress take over our lives. Instead of taking one day at time, we let ourselves get overwhelmed by what we have to do today, tomorrow, next week and even next month. On top of that we constantly worry about how others perceive us. All of these negative things overcome us and we forget about all the positive things that are happening around us. If we only seek to find the negative things, then this is all we will find. We can choose to be miserable and to hate life or we can choose to embrace it and find the good things in life and to learn not to dwell on the bad things that will inevitably happen.

The Good Soldiers

I MADE UP THIS STORY BASED ON REAL FACTS.
The Good Soldiers
Dear Fuhrer,
My name is Himmler Von Strauss, Im a third generation German soldier, currently stationed just outside of southern Poland , near the Auschwitz concentration camp. I just received orders to establish a post outside the camp, and was commanded to shoot anyone who attempted to escape. Up until my second night on post I had never killed a man. I never thought that killing a Jew would feel so terrible. I was raised by a devoted Aryan family, my father taught me about the evil Jews when I was just a young boy. Hatred has always filled my heart for those who strive to corrupt the superior German race. Yet, I find myself feeling guiltier with each day that passes. It has been two weeks since my move to the camp and I have killed at least a dozen detainees. Survival has been difficult, constantly fighting illnes s because of meager rations and lack of rest.

Finger, Salamander, Morning, Brazil, Killing

It was the morning after the attack.

And the water was murky and rough.

Like salamanders rising up to the top.

Fingers fallen soldiers drifted along the top.

Like summer time in Brazil.

The sun was beaming down on my face.

Soft winds blowing in from the east.

Scattered the scent of killing across the sea.

As I made my way towards shore.

I thought about my mothers last words.

“Go fight with honor, so we can all live with freedom.”

Back it up, back it down, shake that money to the ground.

It’s getn hot, your bodies tight, damn I want this every night.

Oh know, its on again - let’s take another spin.

Flip da cash, let flow, bring your bones to the flo.

Feel the shiver, and I’ll deliver.

Time is up, here we go.

I know your close, but its too late, gonna have to shut the gate.

Three, two, one, and this song is done.

Color Rising
By: Andrew Uhacz & AJ Johnston
Stephen Shore
Over the last thirty years, Stephen Shore has been shown and published all over the world. At the age of 14, he presented his photos to Edward Steichen who was the curator of photography at MOMA at the time. Steichen was impressed and bought three of his works. At 24 Shore became the first living photographer to have his own personal show at the Met, in New York. “He has also had one-man shows at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the George Eastman House, Rochester, and the Kunsthalle in Düsseldorf. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. His series of exhibitions at Light Gallery in New York in the early 1970’s sparked new interest in color photography and in the use of the view camera for documentary work.”

Final Paper

A Day in Class

After doing extensive research on world civilizations on the past few centuries, I have decided to steer my original direction of the first papers research towards a more specific topic. Going from my focus on the growth of technology in India, to the rise of ideology in a more broad understanding of Asian culture. The information would be presented as if I was speaking to a American based demographic, or a group of peers with similar backgrounds related to my own.

The 20th century has taught us many things about the advancements of ideology, and the impact it has had on world civilizations throughout time. To explore one of the more recent contributions to human history, I will explore the time period from 1945; focusing my attention on the rise of what I like to call the modern civilization. Further pinpointing the influences of Western ideology on the technologically intrigued Asian culture. The intention of my day in class, is to give students an understanding at why things like technology have become so vital in the survival of all living things on Earth. When most people think of technology, instantly they think computers, yet the single idea of what started the function of the computer is the real symbolic piece of evidence that ensured the development of a machine that has become a huge part of our daily lives.

Downfall: Docudrama Comparisons

In the docudrama, Downfall, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, we take a look in to the personal account of Traudl Junge (played by Alexandra Maria Lara), Adolph Hitler’s last private secretary before the end of the Third Reich. It is important to understand why this docudrama is more compelling to audiences than a traditional documentary or cinematic drama presentation by itself. In a typical documentary, one is provided with a broad category of visual expression that is based on the attempt, in one way or another, to document reality. Furthermore, a drama depends mostly on in depth character development, interaction, and highly emotional themes. A good drama will appeal to audiences through the empathetic experiences in a story, by showing what characters are feeling, which then forces the audience to identify with each character. Now that we see the capabilities of a documentary and a drama, we can better understand why docudramas are becoming more prevalent.

History of Man Ray aka Emmanual Radnitsky

dada | emmanuel | man ray | new jersey | philadelphia | photography | radnitsky

Born in Philadelphia, Emmanuel Radnitsky grew up in New Jersey and became a commercial artist in New York in the 1910s. He began to sign his name Man Ray in 1912, although his family did not change its surname to Ray until the 1920s. He initially taught himself photography in order to reproduce his own works of art, which included paintings and mixed media. In 1921 he moved to Paris and set up a photography studio to support himself. There he began to make photograms, which he called “Rayographs.”

Shortly before World War II, Man Ray returned to the United States and settled in Los Angeles from 1940 until 1951. He was disappointed that he was recognized only for his photography in America and not for the filmmaking, painting, sculpture, and other media in which he worked. In 1951 Man Ray returned to Paris, where he concentrated primarily on painting.

Are rhetorical conventions necessary in the process of creating a successful 3D Animation?

Are rhetorical conventions necessary in the process of creating a successful 3D Animation?

My personal opinion is that the combination of knowledge and computerized skills will be able to develop a more effective final product than an animator with no direction.

What rhetorical conventions are used and how do they transcribe into a built environment?

Pg. 196

Dear Boss - Production of an employee. This can relate to this project of working with three individuals and seeing that it might be capable of only needing two or even one person to finish a product. If the animator simply had background in English, they could fulfill the needs of this task just the same as if he had a rhetorical advisor.

Literacy Autobiography
This literacy autobiography will detail the establishment of language, text and technologies through my own personal experiences. To help express my opinions I used Walter J. Ong’s Orality and Literacy, a book with extensive observations that explains how culture has evolved based on surrounding elements. Ong’s research focused on the differences in oral cultures, targeting those in which had no writing system. (80) He observed how cultures evolved from an oral based state of mind to one dominated by written word. Everyone can relate to the effectiveness of orality, as we look at the first few months or years of our lives. Written language is not understood and even the words spoken to us are not likely to make sense. Oral methods of teaching prepare children for the ability to take on multiple aspects of dialogue and in many cultures the ability to write. One of the most common expressions, you can’t teach and old dog new tricks, refers to young minds having the capability of acquiring new knowledge and being able to retain that information which will be stored for later use.

Future of Web Searching

1.) We came up with a variety of topics that we could cover, some of them related directly to the actual way searching on the Internet will be done and the others were more focused on the surrounding domains that effect search engines and web browsing.
Google: Adwords, Adsense, Yahoo!: Overture, and other countless online marketing / advertising use search engine traffic to generate billions of dollars of revenue, not only for these profit driven corporations but for their many users. People are paying anywhere from a penny a click, to several dollars for a targeted visitor.

Increase traffic by SpringWidgets

Few days ago I had problems with my blog Revenue Sharing (It was blocked temporarily by Blogger AntiSpam Bot and I waited for a few days for unblocking - very uncommonly experience for me, huh, stupid bot, what it thought…..).

I noticed this when I joined to SpringWidgets site, where I found widgets interesting for my other blog WidgetMania. So, there, at SpringWidgets, everyone can create his own widget, it’s called ExpressWidget. It’s very easy to create your own widget - just copy the link to your blog RSS feed and site service do all neccessary actions. Few customisations and - voila! You made your own widget with your content, you can share it, embed it, whatever. So, as I mention in the beggining, I try to copy link of Revenue Sharing blog RSS feed into Express Widget and I got an error. I don’t know what’s going wrong and after some time I realised that’s everything ok with widget and procedure, the problem was in my blog which was blocked.

The Ups and Downs of DMOZ

Directories | DMOZ | link popularity | search engine optimization

All webmasters and surfers know about DMOZ and its reputation for bringing listings of quality sites. Surfers love it because a human eye has seen the pages before it is listed and what is put up on the list is quality material. Webmasters long to be put in the list because they know a spot on DMOZ will do a lot to add to the credibility of their site and have a quality link to their site for a boost in Google Page Rank.

In the beginning, it started out with the highest of ideals. All volunteer editorial staff to manually pick out the quality requests for listing. Lack of advertising polluting the search results. No hype in the listing, just the facts. What more could anyone ask for?

Are You Kidding? Money Won't Bring You Happiness And Other New Age Thought BS

Happiness | love of money | money | self-help

You may call me a pessimist, a cynic, or perhaps just a bit jaded, but really I am just an optimistic realist.

I watched the movie The Secret for the 4th time after putting it up for about 6 months. One of the things in the movie, as well as many “think yourself rich” types of books, movies, shows and so forth is the idea that money will not bring you happiness.

That is such a bogus statement if you take it at face value.

If you have a village of starving people and use one million dollars to make sure those people were fed for the next year, that money will have made them and you as the donor pretty happy.
