49. Blogging: how small the world is (19.11.2006)

This relatively short “blog-entry” is about how I’ve re-met the schoolmate from the secondary school (called “gymnasium” here in Slovenia) that I haven’t seen for let’s say five or six years. Here’s a link to her blog in Slovenian language titled simply “MOJCAS”: http://mojcas.blog.siol.net (her name is obviously “Mojca”, while her surname starts with a letter “S”, that’s where the blog’s name came from), which is a part of one of Slovenian ISP’s Blogos: http://blog.siol.net network of various blogs.

Skype is definetely not Hype!

| | | | | |

Well the folks at Ebay definetely are not stupid! Ebay owns Skype. It is an awesome program. Skype is software that allows you to communicate with people anywhere in the world. Best of all if both users have skype the call is absolutely free! I bet some long-distance companies are really upset. Not to mention the file sharing and transferring of pictures,mp3s,videos and software. Skype also offers SMS messaging to any cell phone anywhere in the world. Then there is skypein. Skypein is actually a telephone number assigned to your computer. With the new usb corded and cordless phones skypein is an affordable alternative to standard phone service or voip.

Effective Ways To Make Money Online

| | | | | | |

More and more people are turning to the internet to earn money, hoping to replace their daily 8 hour jobs. Fire their own boss and be free from any report deadlines, demanding clients, nagging bosses and all the pressure brought about by the day or night job. The net has a big potential when it comes to online businesses. You just have to have good products, useful services, interesting and informative ideas and effective online-offline marketing. However, it is never easy to earn money online. A lot of online marketers and businessmen quit at an early stage.

One more member banned..

It’s crazy how some people can be so stupid, I mean it’s not a surprise if I ban someone because he copy and paste free reprintable articles on Senserely, is it?

It’s written in many places that this is not allowed and they think they can do like in youtube or some other places where you have something written but you can do what you want? The problem with senserely is that you have usually only one AdSense ID and once you are banned from senserely you cannot come back, never. Just go somewhere else.

And some banned member join in again, like if I was not going to check the banned ID list…

Work at Home Jobs

Working at home isn’t that easy as I’ve thought before. I was lucky though to stumble over a Work at Home job. I am a telemarketer working for a US based company. I work every night for four hours and paid $2/hr. I thought that I am not justly paid at that rate but what can I do, it’s the only available job I can do online here in the Philippines. I am not required to work though but I just love to work at least part time (hahahaha)I am trying to become a bit independent this time. I mean generally, Filipinos don’t leave their parents until they finished college regardless of the age though that is starting to change over time already.

Google Adsense: Happy are those who do what they have to do!

| | |

I was wondering what went wrong with my blogger account because I kept on receiving a prompt that says “An error occurred (code 205). Please try again.” Google sent me a notice two days after I have activated my adsense account. Google told me that I haven’t had any Google Adsense activities on my submitted site. Well, they are actually right. I haven’t pasted my adsense code yet and that’s because as I’ve said I always get the error prompt from blogger.com.

I have another site, www.digafact.com but I haven’t uploaded any file yet. You see my point here is that, for beginners like me, it may take a long time before we can have our sites and blogs set-up and most probably it will take us a longer time before we start earning a decent income from the adsense program.

Common Adsense Mistakes

| | |

I have looked in a few places, and have found some of the most common errors when using Google Adsense. Most of these errors will get your account permanently banned by Google. I tried a couple of them early on not knowing what would happen, but Google graciously sent me a warning e-mail to stop fraudulent activity, so I stopped and have not had any problems since.

All the links to the original articles are included.

1. Clicking ads on your site.
This is the biggest of all the adsense mistakes and an easiest way to get your account banned.

2. Editing adsense codes.
You are not allowed to edit the adsense codes you obtain from your adsense account. It is also advised to make the color changes etc from the adsense account itself instead of editing it from the codes. This is to avoid the possibility of mistakes.

Book Review - Goodnight Nobody

| | |

Having just completed Goodnight Nobody I felt I should go ahead and write the review for it rather than some of the other ideas floating around in my head.

Goodnight Nobody is an awkward book to review, as it struck me so many different ways. On one hand, I related to the main character, Kate, in the sense that she is a suburban housewife with three kids and the feelings that accompany those surroundings. Ok, so there are some differences, I work and only have two kids, but the overall emotion expressed of “Is this all?” resonates through moms of today. I think any mother could relate to the feeling that motherhood, at times, sucks you dry. Kate, who was accustomed to the fast paced life of New York has been whisked away to a “safe” town in CT. Can someone say Stepford Wives? She confused about what she wants to do for herself, and struggling to keep up with the other mothers that appear so perfect. This aspect of the story resonated with me.

Book Reviews - Running With Scissors

| |

With the impending release of the movie, and a conversation yesterday with an old friend, Running with Scissors has come across the radar of the next book on the chopping block. Thankfully, I enjoyed Running with Scissors so it won’t be chopped too hard.

Book Review - Lisey's Story

| | | |

As predicted, I read all but about 30 pages of Lisey’s Story over my weekend away. Where can I even begin? For Stephen King fans, Lisey’s Story ranks with the best in my opinion.

Book Reviews - When Crickets Cry

| | | |

As much slack as he sometimes gets from book critics, I just can’t resist Stephen King. I own almost all of his novels, so last night when I saw Lisey’s Story I had to pick it up for my trip this weekend. Expect that review in the near future, as I devour his novels rather quickly. But for now, I present When Crickets Cry

Book Review - A Summer to Die

| |

Where to begin? Which book is allowed the privaledge, nay, honor of being my first reviewed book. Should it be a classic favorite? Like Bridge to Terabithia, or my first full scale huge novel, It (Signet Books) as recounted in my last post? How about a true classic, such as Moby-Dick (Bantam Classics) or a modern day bestseller like The Da Vinci Code?

Intro to Book Reviews By Me

I’ve read for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I read whenever I could, often sneaking a book under my desk so I wouldn’t have to listen to my elementary teachers drougn on and on. I hid my mom’s romance novels under my bed to read by night light when everyone was asleep. I believe my first novel of any substantial length was Stephen King’s It (Signet Books) and I was so terrified that I read another book after that one every evening before I could fall asleep. I still hate clowns.
