I bought several DVDs during my visit in the United States, only to find that with the new DVD region-coding restrictions put on hardware I cannot view them on my computer. That bites! I bought them legally and they cost me a pretty penny as they were a bit more expensive than I would have paid here in Europe. What gives!?

There are hardware sold
There are hardware sold without regional potection. As for computer reading, if it’s software protection, it can be cracked, or an alternative DVD player downloaded.
It’s a shame that you pay and you own nothing: if you break the DVD, the support, you can’t see the movie anymore, so in fact you’re not buying the right to view the movie as much as you want, no you’re buying a support!
