With Firefox browser settings you are exposed to only certain settings Vs the about:config option from the firebox browser. Though the geeks finds it easier to tame the browser the way they want, here is a solution for non-geeks.
Exploring Visually to tweak the firefox is made possible via third party plug-ins like GUI Config and Configuration Mania.
Here is the screenshot of what you see with GUI Config, after installing the plug-in you can access this from Tools -> Advanced Settings.
After you have installed the extension successfully you can find the menu item right after the usual “Preferences” entry. Therefore in Linux it’s in the “Edit” menu whereas in Windows the entry is in the “Tools” menu. If you are running Mac it’s probably in the “Tools” menu, too. 
A click on the menu item will bring you right to the Advanced Settings dialog where you can change options or reset them to their default values by clicking the “Default” button. 
To reset one specific option to its default value just right-click on it and choose “Set to default value”. The change is active immediately.

With these plug-ins you can hack firfox the same way as with firefox default option dialog, after opening the extension’s setting dialog.
