You see, it’s that I was thinking a bit today about it (after viewing/reading a few particular pages on the Internet; see for the related links below), and so I just realized that it was probably five or six years ago when I first saw a 1970 “Gimme Shelter” film that I’ve become a sort of a “pacifist”. The mentioned documentary chronicles the Altamont Music Festival concert: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altamont_Music_Festival), and it was suggested to me (to watch it) back then by my older brother, who is by-the-way a huge fan of The Rolling Stones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones.
Although it is true that I’ve never liked violence in the first place, I wasn’t thinking about all this stuff in such a “declared way” as I did after seeing this movie. Basically, Gimme Shelter: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065780 (a link to a dedicated page at the IMDb site: http://www.imdb.com), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimme_Shelter_%28documentary%29 (a link to a dedicated article/page at the Wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org) documentary film as the most important thing (in my opinion) catches the sights of a panic that rises between people who came to a concert just to have a good time (peacefully, since it was the end of sixties), and who seem to be are confused by the question (and disturbed with it), why all this predatory violence, imposed on them by the primitive tugs that call themselves “Hells Angels”: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hells_Angels, is necessary. On the other hand, one important factor to this dreadful spectacle was a crowd of no less than 300.000 people (which was of course hard to control), but it doesn’t matter. Anyway, as I’ve read it in some good essay/article, this disastrous event definitely meant the end of the Hippie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie era.
P.S. - There are a few scenes in this movie that I will most certainly never forget; in fact, I was so disturbed with this film that I told all my best friends about it (and my feelings regarding it) the very next day. I also remember that I wasn’t quite “myslef” for quite some time after watching it. Well, I could write about it for hours (especially about those particular scenes from the film), but I will just stop here !!
