3. My two different website's designs (25.08.2006)

Please, I ask you if you could review my home-site’s design, i.e. the one that I use it at the moment compare to the “3-column layout” (fully CSS-based, the one with all the “standard boxes”; with Header, Content and Footer), that I was planning to use for a very long time now …

As first, here are the two important my home-site’s links: http://users.volja.net/tayiper (opens the “index.html” page), http://users.volja.net/tayiper/intro.html (the “intro.html” page, opens after 38 seconds); the site is personal and more or less computing-related. Further, all my home-site’s variants are written in XHTML and W3C-valid, but only “locally”, i.e. in the original form, as it is stored on my hard-disk, since some of them are hosted on such free-hosts which add the code that screws the otherwise valid syntax. In particular, this one linked above currently validates too (btw., it’s my main variant), but unfortunately sometimes the “Volja” free-host also adds the code that screws the syntax. This is totally random though.

And as second, here is first a link to a thread that I’ve opened yesterday on the Digital Point Forums in the “HTML & Website Design” section http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=83664 (and CSS sub-section), and which I titled “Problems with a 3-column CSS-based layout”; it is basically a continuation of other threads that I posted back then in the “Programmer’s Symposium” section of Ars Technica Forums, but didn’t get a straight-forward answer to my questions. In it, you can find the links to the second type of design, i.e. as mentioned, a 3-column layout with Header, Content, and Footer boxes. /UPDATE: Well, here I am posting one of the three links from that thread anyway: http://users.volja.net/tayiper/index-example-2.html (style-file: http://users.volja.net/tayiper/layout-example-2.css)

So as an addition to any web-coding related feedback (ad-placement, general site-codingetc.), I am asking you: if you compare both designs, do you think it’s worth a hassle to “convert” my site into it (i.e. into that second “3-column CSS-based layout”), or my current site’s design is OK ??

Thanks in advance, Ivan Tadej (user: “tayiper”)
