I am still continuing programs reviews (of some sort at least), so I will today shortly describe the in my opinion amazing KeirNet’s K9 program: http://www.keir.net/k9.html (I really recommend everyone to try it out); same as DNSKong described/reviewed in the previous “blog-entry”, it is available as a .zip archive (but not as an installer), while the last version of the program released was version 1.2.8.0, released on April 18 2004 …
K9 is an only 81 KB in-size anti-spam program from KeirNet site: http://www.keir.net, and I really recommend it to everybody. Although I know the Keir site for quite some time, IIRC because of his work for the Foundstone software. Particularly I have in mind the ShoWin program: http://www.foundstone.com/resources/proddesc/showin.htm (see here for description), http://www.foundstone.com/resources/termsofuse.htm?file=show… (and download it here), while for other programs see here: http://www.foundstone.com/resources/freetools.htm or here: http://www.foundstone.com/resources/forensics.htm.
Well anyway, K9 is an anti-spam application that “sits” between servers and an e-mail client; so it’s not the type that only checks the servers for spam (however, it can also do that), but “ignores” the e-mail client. I use it with Mozilla Thunderbird, and well, it’s also available in the “non-setup” form, i.e. a .zip archive, no installation procedure required. Yeah, I know that this might sound strange, but that was the main reason for trying it in the first place.
