She Told Me

Hello thanks for dropping in … I was out the other night with my daughter who has just turned 36 we got into a conversation about baby boomer article I had been reading earlier in the day, which had made me reflect on how old I really felt and strange as it may seem I feel about the same age as my daughter … (feel I said not look anything like) even though I’ve just turned sixty.. and she seems to still be in my minds eye 14 years old … I don’t mean when we are face to face so to speak no I mean in my head when I am thinking about her … isn’t this strange why do our age group of baby boomers still believe the world has stopped and we will go on and on! … I really do feel great being a baby boomer… I’m happy (from the inside) … but I must admit this has only happened in the last few months, I can recall the day this over whelming feeling of happiness swept over me … like a message from my inner self … I was out as usual for one of my many daily walks with my pooch she’s called lucky I had my headset on playing a track from my ipod … “the Rolling Stones .. my favorite baby boomer band lol” then suddenly I had this idea I wanted to turn around immediately and go back home to implement this idea on my computer … well the sun was shining the sea was as blue as could be the waves where crashing I was so in the moment … as I tuned I had this other thought … why oh why … are you always in a hurry to do what your compelled to do right at that moment of thought … how long are you going to rush around.. Why can’t you just enjoy the moment Why! When? Are you going to have all day to your self, a day in which you can waste it if you feel like it … then bang this is when I laughed out load … yet another thought over whelmed me yet again .. I realized right then … this is what retirement must be all about … when that day comes and you end up and labeled not so much as an old retired pensioner no nothing but a baby boomer… Great isn’t it! That’s when you must really throw the inner clock out of your head … yes I do mean that inner clock we all have ticking away inside our skulls … the 24 hour tick-tock-clock … the one that switches on as soon as you surface first thing in the morning you no all of a sudden your planning, getting up, how the day is going to develop, what your wearing, what your eating, planning this timing that, this clock that makes you want your breakfast, your lunch, your evening meal all at a certain time because it starts at birth and continues on till you’re my age and if you don’t get this part right this part I’m sharing with you now … you will not be happy … oh no you will not be happy believe me … You see money cant make you happy “Well Not From The Inside Out” … that’s what I’m talking about here! … From the inside out; trinkets, bubals, even people won’t do it for you either … to be happy 24 seven you have to come from the inside out … So here you go try this eat only when your hungry, sleep only when your tired, work only when your buzzing, don’t rush any where like if you go for a bus … don’t even think about running for it that’s right I’ve sold my car because of this: … the roads these days wont let you idle along …all you get if you try and stick to the speed limits is the old two fingered salute and some idiot screaming at you because they will end up a few minutes late for where-ever they are going “idiots” I know I’ll admit I was one of them once … a right idiot … BUT now I must admit since this cog turned in my head and as stated I really do feel happy 24 seven, “with-out medication by the way LoL” if you just try this to just turn that inner clock off and see if this works for you (How I can here you think) … simple STOP conforming to old habits and past programmed responses… well its worth a try for the sake of happiness why wait till you get to baby boomer age oh yes it comes around kind of quick … “if your always being quick … so to speak” Quote … “If the 60 is the new 30, then in my mind, the 80 is going to be the new 60,” I reckon. “You know, I would say well into my 80s. I mean, I hope to have another strong 30 years, at least.” Call it the new math — that savvy marketer’s hope will mean not only money in the bank, But happiness in the heart … They were America’s first mass market and an advertisers’ dream: 77 million baby boomers that came of age with television. As kids, they were consumers of baby foods and breakfast cereals. As adults, they were trend setters. But as they outgrow the desired 18- to 49-year-old demographic, they are creating a new frontier for marketers. “If you’re a marketer and you want to grow your business, the pie that’s going to get bigger is the over-50 pie,” says Matt Thornhill, with The Boomer Project, a research group that helps ad agencies better understand the mindset of people over the age of 50. http://www.boomerproject.com/team.html The Boomer Project is housed within the Southeastern Institute of Research, enabling our clients to take full advantage of their long and storied experience researching older Americans.
