Kris Allen Sings "Falling Slowly" from "Once" in American Idol

Kris Allen sings the song “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once” in his American Idol performance.
He did it beautifully and some say that was his best performance so far. The judges didn’t quite go for it though. Randy said it just didn’t quite catch on, and for Kara it was an obscure song choice, but she did praise Allen for his performance.

“Falling Slowly” won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It’s from the movie “Once”, performed by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova in 2007. In 2008 it got to the second spot on the Irish singles chart. It was even used in one of the “Irish” episodes of The Simpsons. Hansard and Irglova sang the song during the 2008 80th Annual Academy Awards, then later accepted the Oscar for the best song. Some say they were the best moments of the ceremony.
