A young Moroccan Facebook user, Fouad Mourtada, has been sentenced to jail for three years.
He put up a profile on Facebook using the name of a royal prince of Morocco. That led to his arrest on suspicion of stealing the prince’s identity.
He said it was done just for fun and no disrespect was intended. Many bloggers in Morocco have also shown sympathy for him. But all to no avail.
It is said that while detained he was beaten up as well.
Mourtada is a computer engineer.
