China has through its People’s Daily reacted to Spielberg’s sensational pull-out from the Beijing Olympics as its Artistic Advisor. It calls Spielberg’s action naive and over-the-top.

Spielberg withdrew to express his dissatisfaction of China’s policy in Darfur. But the paper pointed out the China did not create the Darfur problem, which has nothing to do with Chinese policies in Africa. It sarcastically descries westerners looking at other countries through “coloured glasses”.
