Using a CMS with Adsense

adsense | cms | code | Inserting | MODx

My main website, Pangea Enterprises, uses the popular CMS MODx. Although it has many greatly applaudible features; the one thing I think it is let down by is its lack of support for showing, or at least being able to insert Adsense ads unsing the admin WYSIWYG.

A suggestion to anyone seriously thinking about writing a CMS would be to look at what clients are likely to include, such as Adsense ads, and make it easy for them to do so.

I currently have to go through the source code of all my site posts to be able to put in my ads code - something that gets tedious after a while!

Not whishing to complain about everyhting and anything in this post, I’ll leave on a bright note: MODx is one of the BEST CMS Ive evey utilised, and is one I suggest to all my clients for any need, as it is so easy to use (apart from with adsense!!!)

I’m pretty sure you CMS

I’m pretty sure you CMS uses a template system so you only have to edit the source of your template and put in your adsense code here once and for all. Try looking for the template system on your CMS or at least for two files nammed header and footer..

Yeh.. but

Unfortunately I dont actually WANT to put ads on all of my pages - so given the number of pages I have, all with different styles it would take hours to update each template + in one of my other blogs I mentioned that my plesk panel doesnt like opening template files so changing the name, editing, and changing back again is out of the question.

Thanks for the idea though.. it will be helpful for soemone, but not me.

Honestly I don’t know why

Honestly I don’t know why you limit yourself with something that doesn’t allow you to edit any files.

The way I do it:
I have a web hosting but I don’t use their tools.
I have a folder on my computer which is a copy of my website (not the database, but the files)
I edit the file on my computer with whichever software I want (I use Notepad++ for text editing)

I then use Filezilla to upload my files

I might try that… good

I might try that… good idea and a good way of keeping back-ups too.

Thanks
