Will Tom Cruise Return For a Top Gun 2?

I just read this story, that says Tom Cruise may be reprising his role of the (young back then) cocky pilot Maverick, for a Top Gun sequel.

They obviously wouldn’t have him playing Maverick 22 years ago, still that young. But, the rumor is that they have an idea for him to be an instructor at the Top Gun school, having to deal with a new cocky young pilot (the young female, as the rumors go, version of himself, if you will).

There isn’t enough information in the article for me to make a determination on whether or not I think this idea is truly workable. Then again, this is all still just Hollywood rumor. I haven’t heard anything about this from anywhere else really. But, I’d go see the film, if it did happen, just for curiosities’ sake, if nothing else.
