Not too long ago actually, a little before noon, a strong earthquake was felt throughout Southern California. Currently measuring 5.8 on the richter scale, the quake was felt from Los Angeles through San Diego, and even into Las Vegas. No significant damage or injuries/deaths have been reported yet, but it hasn’t been long since the occurrence.

I live in the San Fernando Valley, and we felt it pretty strong out this way. It wasn’t nearly as bad as the infamous Northridge Quake, but it wasn’t a tiny tremor either.
The chandelier above our dining room table swayed ominously, and the book cases looked as though they were in danger of collapsing on top of someone.
Luckily, my two small children didn’t seem phased by the event. I thought for sure the three year old would get a bit panicky, but she didn’t react much at all actually. She just looked at me and smiled, then proceeded to talk about her friend (the stuffy she was holding). The 6 year old was about as apathetic. She was slightly perturbed that I wanted to move her away from a book case, but otherwise unaffected. At least I don’t need to worry about how traumatized they’ll be from living in earthquake country!
