Don’t get me wrong, I love the computer animation and graphics. The Pixar movies have really been great. But, there’s something lost in computer only animation.

An ex of mine, his mother used to work for Disney, as one of the people who colored the finished hand drawn animation sketches (so, she was a tracer? No! She gave the drawings depth, character… Sorry, couldn’t resist). But, Disney saw that it’s computer animated features were doing so well, they cut the hand drawn ones.

As much as I love what Pixar has come up with through the years, I think this was a really bad move. Disney had the opportunity to stay true to it’s roots, and give us more of the traditional animation, with it’s lovely art, while simultaneously providing the bulk of the computer animated as well. They missed that opportunity, for whatever their reasons were, and now I think people are really missing the old animation, however much they may love the new.

I just miss it. I was so happy to see it back, for a brief amount of time, in Enchanted, as I think most were.
