Every computer user ocasionally has a need to operate with compressed software. All the software you download from Internet comes in one or another type of the archive to save the space on the server for storing it. You might also need to be able generating archives on your computer, if you need to send the relatively big files to your friends or co-workers. The most popular, but not the best in terms of the compression ration, is format ZIP, that is usually associated with the well-known shareware software WinZip. However, there are many other formats, that becoming more and more popular, that WinZip does not support. I have compiled a collection of the best 32 free archiving programs with brief description and links on RateItAll. All programs are ultimate freeware with no small prints or strings attached.
