My friend and I were discussing the differences between high performance track driving and motorcyle riding the other day. He believes that riding a motorcycle on a track is more difficult than high performance track driving. I disagree. Because MOST people are able to drive (at least somewhat), that it becomes a bit easier in learning to drive “on the edge” or at the limits of a vehicle. Riding, on the otherhand, is a niche market. Think of how many multicar homes you know of. Now think of how many multi cycle homes there are. Not quite as many. Also, most of your cycle enthusiats are either street riders, with stretched, chromed bikes, or Rolex riders, older, affluent Harley owners. However, in the car crowd, there are numerous older, affluent owners of high performance cars. I tried to liken it to flying a jet. Is it difficult? Definitely. However, if everyone grew up flying Cessnas, I bet making the transition to a fighter jet wouldn’t be quite as difficult.
