Careful Where You Throw the Code

| | | |

Once you have been approved as a publisher for adsense, you are free to go and put your code on future websites that you create. I guess most of us are aware of this:

Site Content
While Google offers broad access to a variety of content in the search index, publishers in the AdSense program may only place Google ads on sites that adhere to our content guidelines, and ads must not be displayed on any page with content primarily in an unsupported language
click here and scroll down to Site Content for a very clear list of what is appropriate.

I would like to point out that if you get approved for adsense and put it on your site and then you create more sites to put your code on, you better make sure that those sites are within Google’s TOS as well. Once you get in, you are not scott free to run around throwing your code on any old page. They will and do check. Take care of where you put your code lest you find yourself slapped with a big old banned account. Honestly I find advice like the one blogged here a little frightening. I am a big scardy cat and it seems like I find something iffy every day that I’m constantly trying to tweak. When in doubt, always contact Google and ask them if your new site is up to their terms. Google has a great help forum, but personally I find the biggest help on the subject can be found in the forum at Digital Point here forums.digitalpoint.com . Lots of constant Google discussions there along with webmaster tips galore. Google releases updates to their terms quite often, check them frequently.
