She Told Me

You are on the lot, you are looking for the car you have decided to look for, and the sales person has approached you.

The first words you will probably hear “Welcome to (name of lot) my name is (name) and you are?”. This is a prompt to get to know you to build some friendly relations.

90% of the time you will tell the sales person your name.

A rookie sales person will start off asking you about the car you are looking for, or “How can I help you”, to which you will answer, “Just Looking”. The truth being that if you are on a car lot you are looking for a car DUH!!

If you have stoped and gotten out of your car to look at a car on the lot, he will begin with the welcome line, and then begin to talk about the car you are looking at.

The following questions will be asked in the process of looking around the car. The sales person wants to know how long you have been looking, where you work and for how long. They may also want to know how much you make. They may even ask you about your credit

These questions will be stated in a round about way, depending on the salespersons skill and how long they have been selling cars. You should notice how this information is picked up. The way the questions are presented is a clear indication if you are dealing with a seasoned professional, or a rookie.

The sales person will then find out about your children (2 door or 4 door car needed). If you are looking for a light or dark colored car. Rookie will ask for a color and get nailed if per say if he doesn’t have a red jag on the lot.
