I smoked for 8 years and was at 20 cig a day, I stopped too using nicotine gums.
Now there is zyban.com but when I stopped it didn’t exist (in my country), I think I’d have take that road instead, but it was 6 years ago.
the advice I give is: make a list of all the reasons, even very small for which you will be happy to stop smoking forever. There is money savings, better breath odor, winning time, being proud of yourself for achieving something difficult, blablabla.
write them down on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere in your wallet, so you can look it up the first weeks that you’ve stopped, the most difficult times.
And then even if you forget it in your wallet, several months after you can read it again. I think I throw it out of my wallet over one year after I stopped, because by that time I was really out of it and if I start again it would be really a big mistake, not a craving!
Another advice: never smoke a cigarette anymore, the smoke of other smoking in a place should be your only way of smoking again, do as you did when you were a child and before smoking your first cigarette: if you smoke one you can start to smoke one pack very very very very easily.
If you never smoke one, then you’re strong and the day where you’ll be smoking another cigarette has yet to come.
Last advice: think of the motherfucking people who manufacture and sell this poison and think of the asshole governments who autorize this to be sold, screw them and don’t be their pussy anymore! They got you because you were young and didn’t actually think too much of it, but now that you know about it and them, don’t give them your money and health!
