I started blogging a couple of years ago. I didn’t do much, and I didn’t expect much. For some reason *innocent whistle*, I joined the Adsense program run by Google. I had noticed some traffic starting to build to my site, and I thought, “Why not?”
Well, after a few months I got a check for around a hundred and fifty dollars. I was shocked. Money? For my pitiful website? How in hell did that happen? I thought to myself, “This can only get better.” Boy was I wrong. I thought if I just left my site alone, it would continue to earn some money over time and pay for itself. Hahahaha.
Ok, so time slipped by and I began to read a little here and there on web site optimization and search engine optimization. I tried a few of the more ethical techniques which were recommended by good folks and acceptable to Google and others. So my traffic went up a little, but my earning did not.
So I asked myself, “Why?” Well, I gave it a lot of thought. I began to realize that lots of folks said the same thing over and over. Content. Content is king. Content brings traffic. Yadda yadda. But content is the one thing most legitimate sites have trouble producing. And so did I.
It takes time and effort to create content. It is like creating a product. You have to come up with and idea, then produce the idea. Then put it up on a site and hope it will help stimulate traffic to your site which then increases the chances that folks will click those links.
It is not hard to create content. Just think of something and start writing about it. Make sure it fits your site theme/motif/etc and write a few words a day. 50 words a day = 18250 words a years. That’s a pretty good bit of content which equals more traffic as your site grows and gets more links to it from other sites this will drive it up in the Google search results and give you more page rank. Then the money starts to flow in a little more. Thats the secret. Nothing else, nothing less. Now get busy. :)
