A new survey in New Zealand has found men lagging far behind in the loo handwashing stakes.
We have copped it for years for leaving toilet seats up, but we are supposedly below par in comparison to our women.
The survey conducted by the typical clipboard toting bureaucrats of lore who have staked out shopping mall loos in our main centres and found us lagging well behind. Why?
92.4% of women wash their hands after using the toilet, in comparison to 81% of men.
Overall, handwashing was “suboptimal” with future health promotion needing to concentrate on encouraging wider use of soap and promoting adequate drying times, the report said.
The study observed the habits of 1200 customers at shopping malls.
Only 76.5% of women saw the need to use soap, compared to about 66% of men - the study covered 150 men and women at each shopping mall toilet.
When it came to drying, more than 90% used hand towels or air hand dryers. Only one person, however, lasted the required distance of 45 seconds for drying.
There is no evidence supplied to explain how the bureaucrats actually observed, witnessed or heard those involved in the surveys.
