Australia will utilise its own labour to tackle demographic challenges - not resort to immigration as has often occurred in the past.
Australia will tackle demographic challenges by harnessing technology and underemployed workers, rather than resorting to a huge migration boost, the Australian Government announced recently.
A Vocational Education Minister told a Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum that Australia will need to boost massively the proportion of the population with quality technical skills, in addition to making workers more productive with technology.
In decades to come about 60% of the workforce would need high quality technical qualifications, double the present 30%. That would be a challenge to Australia’s educational system.
