A Saudi blogger who was detained wihout charge and jailed for four months for expressing pro-reform opinions has been released by Saudi authorities.
Fouad Farhan was detained after an online campaign over 10 men arrested of suspicion of financing militant groups.
His blog criticised corruption and sought political reform in Saudi Arabia.Supporters claimed they were punished for their pro-democracy activities. Another strand of democracy has been created in Saudi Arabia.
He was the first blogger to be arrested in the kingdom and his arrest was condemned worldwide, including 200 in Saudi Arabia.
His story has been circulated throughout the world by leading newspapers - all condemned the actions of Saudi Arabia, supposedly a US ally in the middle east. There was undoubtably some proverbial shaking of branches by the US authorites.
