What Attracted You To Blogging?

blog | blogging | internet

I am curious to find out what it is that drew people to decide to be bloggers, and this seems like the perfect place to ask that question - so… what drew you to blogging? Did you get into blogging as a way to share stuff with your friends or family? To prove you were working on that book you keep talking about? To help others understand something important? To try to get a bill pushed through congress? To showcase a hobby?

There are a million… no, far more than that, there are as many different reasons for starting a blog as there are for starting websites, so tell me what your reason was. What got you started blogging? For me? Well… it was all of those above examples and more. Mainly I started hard core blogging to save my sanity, but in truth I am addicted to writing. I get the jitters if I don’t write for very long.

Shoot… when I stop working for the day and want to unwind and relax I log into an instant messenger program and proceed to chat with my friends all day and night. No, seriously - my friends live in other states and I only talk to them online - my relaxation from working as a writer is to type for hours and hours chattering with my friends. LOL Blogging is in my blood man.

So… why do you blog?

Hi, I don’t blog

Hi, I don’t blog seriously. But when I started my first blog in october 2007 it was to have a first hand experience with Wordpress, so I installed the script and set up plugins and such. And then began to blog, I also had things to write about because I was already in a fat loss program and in fact I kept blogging regularly until I screwed up with the fat loss program, and then I bloggued less and less.
Then in May I had a surge in traffic, a very high pick and Wordpress wasn’t up to the task and was eating up all web server ressources.
I had activated the cache system in Wordpress but I think one of the plugins was bypassing it and causing the CPU overload. But anyway I took the opportunity to delete wordpress and reinstall my blog on Drupal which I know better and have been able to reconstruct the urls exactly as they were on wordpress so I didn’t lose any backlinks.

But I haven’t started again the blog nor the fat loss program. They’re both still in my mind though. I’m sure when I’ll start again, both will go hand in hand.

Cheers,
James

Weight loss is actually one

Weight loss is actually one of the things that got me serious on blogging. I’m a stress eater, and family caregiving is *STRESSFUL*, so I started a free Blogger blog to fess up to exactly what I was eating during the day so I could keep track and look at any trends. That lasted…. about a week, maybe two, then I stopped reporting food on it and just started chattering about dieting.

The efforts to loose weight are still ongoing — like the world championships in Yo-Yo competitions. Up and down… and up…
