PROLOGUE
Brief History

“Eventually humans were without a doubt, the dominant species on the planet but slowly and surely, they proved not to be at all superior. As the ages passed, the humans conquered, destroyed, dominated, and seemed to prosper but unbeknownst to themselves; they were slowly creeping towards extinction.”

INSECT SLAVERY
3012 AD

In a strange laboratory, not in the too far distant future two humanoid scientist that call themselves homosuperior work. They are human but barely so because they have been modified genetically and in bizzare ways. In these two subjects the modifications are not readily apparent yet they are there nonetheless. In this future, homosapien are all but extinct. The endeavors of natural selection have fallen prey to unnatural election. Human kind are the masters of their destiny.
The two scientist are a part of a project known as the Arthropod Project. They want to genetically engineer insects to be bigger, stronger and smarter so that they can use them as slave labor that will not rebel as A.I. intelligence did in the Mech Wars almost five hundred years ago. There is much in nature that must be corrected and homosuperior is plainly above cleaning up after their ancestors.
Other projects of this nature dealing with other terran species have failed to yield results thus far. They are hopeful that soon, with this project, this will no longer be the case. There has been a problem with the project for some time but one of the scientist seems to have overcome the hurdle. He excitedly shows his coworker who in turn gets excited and they decide that they have the solution and take it to the rest of the team. In short time, the solution is implemented and a new breed of insect is born and quickly escapes from captivity. A quarantine is instituted but not quickly enough. Some of the insects escape into the wild harshness that is now the environment of planet earth and thrive. They breed and adapt at an exponential rate. The situation is completely out of control.

DOWNFALL OF MANKIND
3050 AD

At first the new breed of insect seems to be a nuisance only but they proove to be extremely adaptable and intelligent and for each breed captured, two more seem to pop up in its place, more fit and much more adaptable. Humanity, if you will, decides to implement a biological extermination plan to be rid of the insects once and for all before things get totally out of hand. Despite the homosuperior, superiority, the new procedure does not go according to plan but instead seems to increase the abilities already inherent in the new species. The insect population grows at an alarming rate. Eventually they begin to wreak havoc upon the human population.
In a last ditch effort, the military branch of the government are given the go ahead to try to annihilate the insects with radiation bombs that will also kill many people on Earth and make most of the survivors sterile. A small price to pay for continued survival they say. It seems to work and mankind tries to rebuild but the insects have once again adapted and now stalk the humans more intelligently. The human race is all but destroyed. The survivors hide, mutate, grow more prehuman like and slowly form enclaves that are in fear of the insects and that are used as food by the insects since many life forms were destroyed with the radiation bombs. The earth is desolate, man recedes and the insect race becomes dominant.

THE BARBARIC AGE
10 Million Years Pass

It is a time of violence and charnage as the new insect race enforces its dominance over the planet and over each other. There are wars and battles raging over the entire globe. Hundreds of millions die as hundreds of millions are born, fresh fodder for the wars. Alliances are formed and betrayed and it seems that the new race of insects are doomed to repeat the acts of their creators. Then a new ability is born, genetic memory that extends to any biological sentience that is eaten but also locked up and stored away memory form the past, form humanity that has mostly long since been devoured. For a while this new ability gives some the advantage but the ability prooves to be wide spreading.

THE EVOLUTIONARY AGE
15 Million Years Pass

The insect race continue to evolve and along with them their intelligence. They have come to the level of the humans before them and there seems to be no end to the possibilities. It is a time still rife with battles but the battles are now to enforce structure. Slowly the more powerful alliances begin to hold sway, the Roaches, the Scorpions and the Spiders unite to form an alliance of great power and stability. The new alliance takes hold and the Insectoid culture is born.

CIVILIZATION BEGINS
25 Million Years Pass

A mostly lasting peace has been maintained. The three major factions of the past are now the three levels of government. A united goal is proposed toward a greater attempt at civilization, thinking, structure and learning and is adopted. The Insectoids are on the verge of entering a prominent industrial age that will change their society forever. One of the great projects is seen as being an act of redemption. The Insectoids plan on seeding the galaxy with life in an attempt to make up for all the life lost in their coming of age. In an Ironic move, they use as their genetic seed, the bluprint of the human genome, taken form the remaining human animals that are breeded and kept as house pets and a reminder of their past.

In 50 million years since the downfall of man, the earth has gained 2 hours to its 24 hour day. The Atlantic has widened. Africa has collided with Europe closing the Mediterranean. Australia and S.E. Asia have joined and California has made a dramatic slide upward/North to the coast to Alaska. Vegetation, water and mamalian life are sparse while the humidy index is an average 130 degrees.
