Where can you get non dairy alternatives? by Michelle Thomas at Cybercoolsnews
What are good alternatives to dairy products like milk and cheese? Most of us drink milk, eat cheese and use some dairy products in our ingredients and cooking recipes. But some have a lactose intolerance, are vegan or just don’t like the idea of drinking milk and eating cheese.
Here are a few ideas and alternatives you can use instead of dairy products.
* Almond Milk Drink;
* Soya Milk alternative like Provamel;
* Oat Milk Drink;
* Rice Milk Drink;
Most of these also have several versions like flavored cartons and also with added calcium and vitamins. They can be expensive though ranging from £0.99 to £3.00 a carton!
Alternatives to cheese:
* Soya slices;
* Tofu style (Tofutti) cream cheese;
**EXTRA TIP**
NEED extra calcium?
* Eat spinach.
And what if you are allergic to soya? This can be a big problem. There are not that many creative cheese spreads for vegans and those who are lactose intolerant that do not have some soya in them. What can you do?
* Try a different kind of spread and forget the cheese;
* Make your own cheese style dips and spreads and make sandwiches and take them with you for the day;
* Go to a special vegetarian and vegan shop and spend £5 for 10 non soya vegan cheese slices!
Ok, Ok, so I’m joking - but there are some vegan alternatives which you can get which don’t cost that much like
* Rice style cheese slices;
* Wheat protein style cheese (whatever that means);
* Oat and protein cheese;
