Life's Hard as a Vegan

diary | journal | Personal Blogs | vegan | vegetarian | veggie life

It’s quite difficult being a vegan really. There’s a lot of prejudice from meat eaters about vegetarians and vegans. Meat eaters laugh if you’re a vegan and sometimes try and force you to eat meat. If I am in a restaurant with a meat eater or even on a date with a guy I like who isn’t a vegetarian or vegan, they usually end up trying to treat me like there’s something wrong with me and if it’s food like Chinese, Indian, Thai or Japanese usually end up ordering for me and for only one dish then spend the rest of the evening trying to make me eat the meat dishes. I don’t really like that very much. Also non meat eaters always think that all vegans like to eat beans. You know the answer is always a baked potato and baked beans. I don’t really like baked beans, or soya beans or that many beans really. And then when someone you don’t know very well invites you to their house to eat, there’s also this stress there like there’s been an argument or a problem about what I am going to eat for dinner as I don’t eat meat. So I get a bit fed up really, but never mind, you can’t please everybody..MORE LATER

Don’t worry, I’m sure

Don’t worry, I’m sure many meat eaters have already thought of stopping eating meat but don’t do it because they don’t see a valid enough reason to go through the everyday effort. So in a way they respect you for doing it.

James
