A new, small, useful feature for win XP conducts with renaming files. I have always wanted the OS to include a way to do a mass file renaming on a multiple files.
You are able to rename multiple files at once in WinXP. Its very simple:
1. Choose many files in Explorer, press F2 and rename one of those files to something else. All the chosen files get renamed to the new file name (plus a number added to the end).
2. Thats it. Easy, what you think?
I would recommend that you only have the files you wish to rename in the directory your working in. I would also commend that until you get used to this neat little trick that you keep copies of the files in a safe location while your getting the hang of it.

From Windows 95 through Windows Xp, setting file and folder permissions was accessed in the same way. With the introduction of Windows Vista, many things have moved, including this feature.
