I am constantly reporting spam. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one on the planet doing this. I’m sure that is not the case.
Everybody loves to receive postcards!

Recently I have been bombarded with spammy emails that have the word “postcard” in the subject along with something like “Your class mate has sent you a postcard” or “New Postcard from your friend has arrived”.
I was reporting these types of spam emails tonight. I usually report to every IP I can come up with by doing a little research on the headers and the links inside the email.
I received a reply on the postcard email spams from ATT that gave me the following warning about the contents of the email.

I know that I am not the only one that is being targeted by these fake postcard greeting emails. However, I wanted to make an open announcement on the advice that I received back from AT&T Company.
I am doing a complete scan of my computer right now even though I did not download anything from the email. The fraudulent postcard email did not supply a domain name to click on, rather an IP address. It had the link to the postcard formatted similar to this
http: //75.20.xxxxxx/6d81d9b848caxxxxxxxxxxx
Do not open the link in these emails. They try to automatically download a file TO your computer and it is possible that it can sit in your temporary internet folder and complete it’s intended destruction even if you close the window to the page where the download began. Some of these programs are designed to call home and do very bad things to our machines. They can get you into big trouble if they perform certain tasks from your machine while you are unaware. You can get accused of being a spammer yourself if a program is sitting on your computer and silently sending out thousands of emails without your knowledge. The list of possibilities goes on and on.
If you do not have an up to date virus protection software working on your computer, then I recommend you to try out the free non business version of AVAST.
It’s very important that you take precautions to protect your computer’s information. Scamming has turned into a big “business” over the last five years.
Be careful with your information and stay safe.
Have a nice day.

I’d like to say thank you to Andy’s Blog for the postcard thumbnail that I found in Google search. Hope you don’t mind!
