2. Converting my website into XHTML (24.08.2006)

Actually it’s quite some time passed since I’ve finally “converted” my home-site: http://tadej-ivan.50webs.com/index.html (redirect: http://tadej-ivan.be), or rather all of the website’s pages into a completely valid XHTML 1.0 (i.e. valid by W3C standards) into a completely valid XHTML 1.0 site; and after all, I can say that in fact it wasn’t such a big deal as I thought it will be, i.e. mainly it was all only about changing the DTD, adding the XHTML-styled tag endings and validating it with W3C’s validator …

If you are maybe interested in details on the whole procedure and problems with it, please see the “Converting HTML documents into XHTML …” thread: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/63309…, that I’ve opened on Ars Technica forums about this. I highly recommend the reading, since it describes the process. Also, there are few interesting replies from other forum members. Maybe I should note also here that I edit/update my site totally by myself; mostly with “typing-it-by-hands” and of course with a bit of copy/paste in some of the JavaSript’s cases. I just want to say that it’s not built on pre-made templates, or even worse, made with “WYSIWYG” type of programs. So are you curious which program I use for maintaining my six site-variants? Well, I use the EditPad Lite program from the JGsoft software; if you want to check out one of these links: http://www.editpadlite.com, http://www.editpadlite.com/editpadlite.html, http://www.editpadpro.com/editpadlite.html.

P.S. - In regard to what I said above about not using templates and “WYSIWYG-editors”; this is mostly so because back then I wanted to know enough HTML/CSS and JS to write and maintain my own home-site (and not to rely on others), while also note that I’ve learned most of this web-coding related stuff by viewing the source of others sites, reading various articles and tutorials, and posting on various discussion-boards. In fact, I learn so many new things each day, so that each site’s update-schedule contain really many major and minor revisions to the site’s code. For various other site-related changes and other stuff, see my site’s “events” pages: http://tadej-ivan.50webs.com/other/events/2005/events1.html (the first one), http://tadej-ivan.50webs.com/other/events/events7.html (currently the last one)
