For the Health and Well Being of Your Animals

| |

I am the proud owner of 2 beautiful English Springer Spaniels.

Nikki is one year old and her brother, Kiehin, is 6 months old.

As a rule of thumb, I was informed by the breeder we purchased the animals from that you should let your female dog go thru one heat cycle before having her fixed. We did so and Nikki is much calmer and so well-behaved and her personality and demeanor are great!

My feeling as far as male dogs go is to have them fixed at 6 months so that they don’t go thru a cycle.
Nothing like having a spraying dog in the house! Almost as worse as having a spraying cat! Been there, done that!! Yech!!

If you have a breed of animal where the tail can be docked (cut short), it is best to do this either when the animal is young or have it
done when you get your animal fixed. It is not good for the animal to be put under an excessive amount of times.

Kiehin was fixed on Friday as well as having his tail docked and he came home on Saturday.

The stitches on his belly will most likely be chewed off by him at some point this week, which is fine.

The bandaged stump of a tail can be unwrapped within 7-10 days or so.

He slept well last night, but I truly expected to come downstairs this morning and find all the tape chewed off his tail!! :)))

A truly remarkable difference in his hormone level since he was fixed. You will discover a much more calmer, relaxed animal.

My overall feeling is that if you are not intending to breed your animals, they can definitely experience a better quality
of life and perhaps even longer life if they are fixed.
