Learning meditaiton is not easy. I have all that I need, audio, video, books and such, but I think I haven’t quite learned it yet,
or if I have then I’m not sure I’m doing it right.
One of my fears is that I might open a third eye or something and I might start to see things I am not supposed to see. I am already a scaredy cat, I don’t want to add fuel to flame if you get my drift.
How do I know that I do or did achieve what I’m supposed to achieve during meditation?
I looked for meditation teachers ((?) i don’t know if they are called that ) here in the country but they charge a very high fee that I cannot afford them. (as much as 5,000 pesos for a session.
I tried online reiki (if anybody is familiar), thru a website that offers a service called distance reiki, or something, it was a long time ago, so i forgot already. You talk via email or messenger and agree on a specific date and time wherein you will stop what you are doing, have some quiet time for 30 mins I think, with eyes closed and that’s it. i didn’t feel anything special or what during that time so I am not sure it worked, so just promptly forgot about it.
I tried the imaginary candle light thingy, but no matter what I do, I can’t seem to get a grip on the image, it keeps fading in and out on me, instead of relaxing me it just frustrates me, and that defeats the whole matter, doesn’t it.
Meditation is supposed to relax and calm, comfort you, but for me that doesn’t seem to be happening, I’m not certain this is helping me. I think writing helps me.. but as I write it seems to me that I clutte my mind more by trying to figure out what to write. It is so frustrating for me that I try my darndest to get to the point where I can find peace instead I just go out, look for peace and find more clutter and more chaos in the process. my mind is confused, but I still push ahead, still forge on hoping that one day I may find what I seek.
Meditation part 2

Oh you’re so right! I never do meditation and I4m not one of those kind of people who believe in psychics powers, reading lots of books on the subjects, not well aware that the persons who write the books are human beings like them and have nothing supranatural, unlike what they sometimes pretend in their books..
Anyway, silencing your thoughts seem to me like the good sentence for expressing when I can feel the best: really relaxing, listening to music and being into it, or playing the music, it’s a good way to silent all other thoughts and keep only useful ones for what you’re doing at the very moment, be it relaxing (ie. nothing) or playing music.
re: Oh you're so right!
Yes, I wanted to do meditation to be able to relax. Yeah, i think that’s what it’s supposed to be is to silent the mind and not think for a while, so that you can think better later and make better decisions, but it’s really hard (ain’t it?) when there’s so many things to worry about?
That’s why I was thinking if meditation works or is it just all jabber from people who do it, so they can feel superior.

Yeah James exactly, nicely said about the authors of these books being “only” humans (same as we all are), while otherwise yes, the whole point of meditation is “silenting one’s thoughts”, nothing less, nothing more. I mean, I’ve met a lot of people who claimed that they are meditating, but when I asked them what they mean by that and how do they do it, they said, for instance: “I go to the woods and think deeply about spiritual stuff, the life in general, and so on”.
Well, that’s all OK with me (and can even have a positive effect on them), but that’s simply not a meditation in its original meaning, that’s only “deeply thinking about things”, lol.
/EDIT: And also, to meditate doesn’t mean that suddenly all your “real world” problems will go away (or that you’ll become “spiritual”, or even have a “revelation” of some sort etc.), i.e. it’s just a way of relaxation, much similar to, for example, listening to music, or going to walk etc.

Well, I can tell you this ...
I can only tell you this: the one and only right “form” (or “variant”) of meditation is to learn how to “silent your thoughts”, so the basic principle of meditation is a preety straight-foward one …
