I was visiting my favorite registrar, GoDaddy.com - World’s #1 Domain Name Registrar
,searching for a domain name suitable for a new project I’m working on and got a message in big bold letters when I searched for this name: “GigabitEthernet.com is available as a Premium Domain Name!”
Wow! Great! Then I looked at the price! Sure, GigabitEthernet.com IS available, but at the hefty price tag of $22,188!
www.GoDaddy.com
is great and I purchase all of my domains through them, but I sure can’t afford that one! Godaddy explains about Premium Domain names in a “mouseover” on the phrase “What is a Premium Domain Name?” According to www.GoDaddy.com
“Premium Domain names are more valuable than typical domain names because they are based on common words and phrases.” They go on to explain that they do not own these names but are one of only a few registrars that offer them on behalf of third-party owners.
There are still some good .com domain names out there, I settled for EthernetSource.com which I thought was a pretty lucky find.
I was curious to see what other premium domains were out there. Most of them aren’t as expensive as GigabitEthernet.com, but some are much higher! Like NAChat.com going for $2,463,200.. WOW! Who knew chatting about sodium was so popular? Then there’s Naroda.com for $43,200 Everything you ever wanted to know about Ahmedabad City suburban living! (Naroda is a suburb of Ahmedabad in India…You know, out where National Highways 8 and 59 intersect). Book your Adventure Travel on Expedia.com: Explore, discover and escape!
