Instant noodles are cheap, tasty and easy to prepare, but don’t overdo it!
The reason they are so tasty is their high sodium and monosodium glutamate (MSG) content; not to mention, the added fat from the flovoring or oil packets that are added to them. Instant noodles typically contain about half of your body’s daily requirement for sodium per serving, so “doubling up” if you are hungry or even combining one serving with other high sodium content meals can really put a strain on your body and contribute to high blood pressure.
For your own health, try not to eat them every day (like some college students do) and when you do eat them, try cutting back on the flavor packets and adding a little less water and/or add some vegetables or an egg to make your “meal” a little more healthful and satisfying.
So, if you enjoy your noodles once in a while that’s ok; at least you are eating. Why not take a few seconds now and Click here for an easy and free way to help feed those in need at The Hunger Site!
