Living On Love May Sound Good But, In Reality, Isn't Very Practical

finances | frugality | handy hints | save money

Most of us are just getting by, but wishing we had just a little more money each month. Some of us have tried every money-making scheme that comes our way, but still, at the end of each month, we still come up short.

The majority of our friends are pretty much the same. It doesn’t take a lot to make us happy; maybe eating a meal out once in a while, or going to a movie instead of always watching TV at home would add a little spice to our lives, but, finding the money for it can be a discouraging task.

Sometimes I think expenses in my life have been pared to the bone, but then I read a tip online, or see an item in the newspaper or a magazine that gives me one more place to gain a dollar or two.

Just the other day, someone told me that she never throws an empty tube of toothpaste away without cutting off the bottom and squeezing out another brushing or two. With the cost of toothpaste these days, that could add up to some serious pocket change. Ditto with buying thick shampoo and dividing it into two containers so you can dilute it with water to go twice as far. I challenge you to even notice the difference.

My point here is that we need to share thee little penny-pinching tips with our family members and friends. I always think that the money I save, no matter how little it may be is better in my pocket than in someone else’s.

Just the other day, I ran across a super website called, Living On A Dime, that offered a wide variety of e-books on ways to save money. My married daughter and I picked out several that interested us. She will buy half of them and I will buy the other half and then we can trade off after we have read them. Maybe you have someone you could do that with, too. Even if you don’t, check out their website below and see if there is anything there that could help you save a bew bucks of your own. They offer dollar-stretching ideas most of us have never dreamed of.

Who knows, maybe, if we really work at it, we’ll not only be taking in an occasional movie, or going out to eat more often; we might even be looking forward to a weekend get-away to Portland, Orlando, or San Francisco by this time next year.
