Some people are unexcitable. No matter what you do or don’t do they remain unmoved. I find that simply amazing. There is so much to get excited about. Those people never fully experience life and all its wonders. They lose out and then one day wonder what might have passed them by and all the regrets come gushing. You don’t want to be that kind of person.

Pirates or is software just too expensive?
Submitted by tishabest on Thu, 2006-08-31 16:43. copyright | softwareThe software protection battle in Europe is clearly far from over and last year’s war on “software patents” (more precisely: computer-implemented-inventions) was just the tip of the iceberg. The Business Software Alliance (BSA), disheartened by the European Parliament’s rejection to harmonizing patent law has taken a new direction. Now the question is why on earth is software so expensive in the first place!?
The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has called for a change in the law so that harsher fines can be imposed for unlicensed software use. (ZDNet UK)
Browsing the Internet
Submitted by tishabest on Wed, 2006-08-30 19:48. browsing | internetJust how many pages do you keep opened while browsing the Internet? And exactly how many tasks are you executing? I realized that I usually have opened the exact same number pages of tasks I am performing at the same time. For example I am now on 4 websites making blog entries, answering questions, surveys and checking my e-mails.
"Over the Hedge" - The Movie
Submitted by tishabest on Tue, 2006-08-29 13:55. animation | DreamWorks | movies“Over the Hedge”, DreamWorks’ latest CGI movie is amusing and entertaining at best. The concept of a group of animals getting over their fear of leaving their beloved forest, going over the hedge to face humans in a world unfamiliar to them is good but I was hoping for some hilarious dialogue as in the Shrek movies and for some reason the characters just weren’t loveable enough.

A BIG no no!
Submitted by tishabest on Mon, 2006-08-28 09:37. Health and Beauty TipsLadies, are you aware that polishing your nails on an aircraft is strictly forbidden? Well, I had absolutely no idea and was reprimanded for doing so. Apparently and it makes total sense, the fumes suffocate and while the other passengers were gasping for air I was happily saving time by polishing my nails…DUH!
"House"
Submitted by tishabest on Mon, 2006-08-28 09:22. TVI recently discovered the TV series “House”, yes before you say it I am behind on American television living in Europe, and I was glued to the monitor. What an incredibly thought-provoking show. Granted Dr. Gregory House can be a really insensitive jerk sometimes but I really got into the couple of shows I watched on my plane trip back.
DVD regional settings
Submitted by tishabest on Sun, 2006-08-27 18:52. DVDs | moviesI bought several DVDs during my visit in the United States, only to find that with the new DVD region-coding restrictions put on hardware I cannot view them on my computer. That bites! I bought them legally and they cost me a pretty penny as they were a bit more expensive than I would have paid here in Europe. What gives!?

Brussels | summerJust got back home to Brussels, Belgium from a road trip in the United States and was disappointed but not surprised to find that it is cold and damp here. Summer is not even over, there is still over a month. August here is often gloomy this way, so if you ever plan a summer trip to Brussels come in July.
