Panama: it's paradise

Panama | Path less traveled | real estate Panama | vacations Panama

It’s funny how I never thought of writing about Panama, my home country. Truth is, it’s a real rough diamond given that there’s lots of people out there wanting to know more about it… and here I am, living in this paradise.

Since I can give all of you people out there a real insight into what is Panama, I figured I may as well write a couple of articles about it. I know there are a couple out there interested, since retired people and tourist affluence has increased very much over the last years.

Welcome, iPhone.

So. I never thought I would do this, but I’m actually writing a blog entry for the very recent introduction of the iPhone. Steve says it’s mindblowing, and the media prizes it as THE thing that will change the mobile industry forever. I’m kind of skeptical with the last one, but in case it turns out to be true, I want to leave a little piece of (future) history in my blog.

It’s a regular day for me, over here in Panama. $600 for a phone well, it’s quite a lot. I would like to hold and test one, though. It looks so slick. But I sure wouldn’t buy it, I can’t afford it. Well, I can (if I deplete my savings), but I don’t feel it’s worth it. At all. My iPod does just fine, and I’m waiting on a rumored Nokia handset (yeah, I know, GEEK).

Why is Walla.com in Jewish?

random | walla

Why is Walla.com in Jewish? Jesus, I went in there, and got greeted by a thousand jewish banners, and text, and other stuff. How come? It’s not like I changed the preferences and set up Jewish as the default language. Was the company bought or something?

PS. I didn’t know there was a minium requirement for posts! 50 words, at least…

A new beginning

blogging

Nice. I’m back. I hope it’s not something temporary. I hope I get the chance to keep it up this time, since this few months (since school started) have been a living hell. I missed the feeling of writing for the sake of it… It’s relieving. I’ve needed it for the past few weeks, and for this one in particular.

Don’t know if you guys missed (or noticed at all) me. But I’ll be here, writing, taking a little time whenever I need it to vent… I really need it.

PS. Seriously, it feels awesome! And my English gets a good practice, too.

PS2. My new English teacher… she’s not a na

At last, I got you fixed!

At last, I can come back! Geez, it was a nightmare to repair this PC. I was about to throw it away and declare it dead once and for all when my father and I managed to get it working again.

I nearly lose all my songs and movies, but thank God I didn’t. I knew my iPod would serve me well as a backup external drive. Gotta thank Apple for saving my music, that’s for sure.

Needless to say, I wasn’t able to post here or anywhere else. Imagine that, no e-mail, no news, no blog, no nothing. Kinda scary, I don’t want to go back there no more. Anyway, it’s pretty late, and I just want to sleep. School is right around the corner (March 15th), so I’ve got to get my sleeping clock fixed.

I wonder...

ends | ethics | Machiavelli | means | moral | philosophy

Does the end justify the means? I was thinking of this while wondering what I could do to make a change in this world. Machiavelli was pretty sure about it, but I can’t figure if I agree or disagree. What does this big community think?

Like, is it ok to become a big, powerful Pope-tator if you’re going to make good changes in this world? If you do something really good for people, is it ok if it was illegal?

How do you do it?

dealing with problems | issues | problems

I want to know how you deal with problems you can’t solve right away? Do you let it rest or do you try and try until you solve it? Or do you just don’t care?

I don’t know if it’s an obssession, a bad habit or perseverance… but when I find a problem, I won’t let it rest (nor will I rest) until I solve it. It’s like, I try to leave it there, but not a minute after I’m back to looking for a solution. I won’t even sleep at night if it’s still bothering me…

But, what about you?

Why School Sucks

education system sucks | rant | school

I’m just sick of school. It’s just the 2nd day back from mid-year vacations and I already hate it. I’ve spent about 5 hours sitting at my desk, doing homework after homework… And just when I thought I was done, a Chemistry workshop appears! It’s just too frustrating, I’ve tried to do it, and it’s impossible! The thing is like done by the devil himself.

I don’t know how teachers really expect us to learn if they just keep filling us with material, class after class, assigning homework after homework, not even stopping to check if everyone has got the class. I just really hope there comes the day when this obsolete system is changed, I’m sick of it. I, fortunately, manage to get by with good grades and hardly survive to this massacre, but my friends are really having a hard time. I don’t know if I had mentioned it before, but I’m a student of the Science specialty. I love science, Biology, Chemistry, Math… they’re awesome and quite amazing. But teachers just make you hate them with your whole heart.

You've got to do something about Windows crashes!

linux | ubuntu | windows alternative

Tired of viruses? Tired of crashes? Tired of slow booting up times? All of the above? Or maybe you’ve grown tired of having to pay a big company every year to “keep you protected”, or because you’ve got to pay every time you want to install a new computer, even though you’ve ALREADY paid for that software.

I think you must know there’s a solution. It’s for the brave, though. Those who want to get their wallets out of Microsoft’s, Norton’s, and other’s hands. It means changing the way you’ve used a computer before: this time, it actually does what you want it to do. No crashes, no viruses, no hackers, no money. It’s free. It’s reliable. It’s Linux.
