The Troops WANT To Come Home!

It is no surprise that the Republican Party has received more campaign contributions from employees of the military than the Democratic Party. However, it may surprise a lot of people to find out that, according to FEC numbers, Ron Paul has received more campaign contributions from military members than any other single candidate.

{see original article for numbers}

Presidential candidate Ron Paul has received over $7,000 more than McCain who was the closest other candidate. Dr. Paul even received more money from veterans than McCain! It’s interesting to see that the military supports the only anti-Iraq war Republican candidate. It just goes to show you how bad this ‘war‘ really is going.

It seems that despite the major media regularly telling us how proud the troops are to be in Iraq, ’fighting for freedom’, their primary interest seems to be coming home in one piece. At least, that’s what these numbers indicate. Why else would a former Libertarian presidential candidate be receiving more donations from military households than the ’war hero’ John McCain?

For those still unfamiliar with Ron Paul, he’s known as “Dr. No” in Congress. There are three reasons for that: he’s an actual medical doctor, he votes no on every bill presented that will grow the size of government, and everybody likes James Bond villains. You can read more on Ron Paul at his website: http://www.ronpaul2008.com. But the most relevant platform point to these numbers is that he’s the only Republican contender to be consistently anti-war. From the Ron Paul 2008 Issues page:

The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. This war has cost more than 3,000 American lives, thousands of seriously wounded, and hundreds of billions of dollars. We must have new leadership in the White House to ensure this never happens again.

Both Jefferson and Washington warned us about entangling ourselves in the affairs of other nations. Today, we have troops in 130 countries. We are spread so thin that we have too few troops defending America. And now, there are new calls for a draft of our young men and women.

We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe, or we can refocus on securing America and bring the troops home. No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution.

Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.

As an anarchist I’m often asked what would happen should a fellow anarchist be elected President. Now I have the perfect answer to this question: help elect Ron Paul and we’ll find out together. I’m not saying Ron Paul is an anarchist, because he’s not. But he is the closest thing we’ve seen in national politics during my lifetime.
