Its a funny story of a gift that came back to a guy who gave it as a present to the girl he’s in love with.

There is this guy at our office whose kind of shy and timid. He’s in love with a girl assigned at the reception but afraid to tell her of his feelings. So what he did was he bought a present for this girl. It was a unisex type of wallet. On a 1/8 size sheet of paper he wrote “You have the sweetest smile I have ever seen. I’m in love with you. Would you go out with me?” He signed it put it in the wallet card compartment then gave it to the girl and waited for her response. Unfortunately, he did not see any reaction from the reception girl. He was a little sad, but never lose hope.

On Christmas Eve he received a present from his cousin. It was beautifully wrapped in a glittering blue gift wrapper. When he removed the wrap he was very surprised to see that it was exactly the same wallet he bought for the girl he love. He checked the card compartment it was there where he had placed it the piece of paper with the words that he’d written on it. This could not be she returned his gift. Why? He has to know why?

He has to know how it was returned. He felt awkward to ask the girl though. He asked his cousin instead. His cousin told him that it was a gift to him by a classmate during their Christmas party at school. Curious his cousin ask what’s with the gift? So the guy told him about the wallet he bought for the girl that he wanted to ask for a date. Sympathizing with his cousin he helped him get to the bottom of the returned gift. First they asked his classmate said that it was his mother who got it for him. Then the classmate asked his mother was told that his father got it from an exchange gift during the Christmas party of an association where the company he worked for is a member. Next they asked the father if there’s a possibility that he could trace where the gift came from. Luckily, the father after making some queries traced it back to a girl who is working in the building beside the company where he worked. They went to the girl and politely asked her where she bought the gift. But she got suspicious. She demanded to know why they were asking. So they were forced to tell her the story. The girl laughed out loud and told them to ask her brother instead. When they asked the brother he looked surprise and embarrassed. Apparently, it was a gift from his girlfriend. He didn’t like it so he gave it to his sister when she was looking for something to bring at a Christmas party. It turned out that the girlfriend is the reception girl at our office.

I bet you’re wondering if the girl were told about the gift. Anyway, the story did not end there. Finding out how the gift returned to him the boy went home. Perhaps you’re thinking that he got angry and decided that he won’t pursue with his plan with the girl. Mmm…actually anger was far from his mind. On his way home what he kept on thinking was that she was not able to read his note. That’s why there was no reaction from her because she still didn’t know. There’s still hope.

After Christmas when he went back to work he greeted the girl the way he always do every morning. Again she has this sweet smile for him every time he greets her. A week after he noticed when he arrived at the office that her eyes were puffy and she did not smile when he greeted her. He was wondering the whole day what went wrong. Quite worried he decided to wait for her outside the office lobby after work. He wanted to know her problem. Walking along her side on the way home he asked why she was crying this morning. She looked at him and cried more. She said that her boyfriend has been ignoring her for a week. Doesn’t return her call, when she went to his house his sister told her that he’s not around. Then yesterday she saw him with another girl when she confronted him he told her that he’s breaking up with her. The worst part was that she didn’t know why, he won’t tell her. The boy feeling happy with the break up invited her to a coffee shop. While waiting for their coffee he took from his backpack the gift and placed it in front of the girl. She looked at the gift and then at him asking what it’s all about. He asked her about the present he gave last December. She remembered. She told him that she gave the wallet to her boyfriend because she does not have a brother that she could give it to. Seemed confuse she asked him why he has that wallet. Hesitantly, he told her how it was returned to him. The girl was surprised but also realized why her boyfriend dump her. She was apologizing for what happened but he was not listening. He was telling her to open the wallet and to get the paper in the card compartment.

What do you think happened after she read his note? Well, you can guess what happened after that. The reception girl just delivered their second baby today. Of course they didn’t get married right away. They went out for a while for about 4 months before he popped up the question.
